The holidays are here!! Here are a few pics from our Holiday Ornament project! We hope the kids loved making them with us, we sure did. Wishing all of you a very happy holiday season: we'll be ready to work hard again in the New Year! Pride and love is what we think of when we consider the growth these learners have made so far.
Here's to a great start in January! Take care. Love, Ms. Sara, Ms. Mimi and Ms. Kelly These two sweet kiddos did a great job splitting multi-syllabic words apart using pencils, paper and some dot paint! A little creative outlet goes a long ways. ;)
Lauren and Jaxon are celebrating their reading progress and tons of hard work with a stretch on the floor, a tasty treat and a fantastic read aloud! Iggy Peck by Andrea Beaty is one of our favorites: a well-written, inspirational story that incorporates rhyming while encouraging any reader to follow their dreams. We love it all!
We are so very grateful to work with these precious children, their wonderful families and our awesome teachers every day! We hope you all have a very full (on multiple levels ;)) and happy Thanksgiving this next week while spending time with family and friends. We'll look forward to being back with our burgeoning readers in a week!
Our 4th Graders are busy crushing books this year and reaping the benefits in multiple ways! Aside from increasing their fluency, comprehension and enjoyment of reading, they are bringing friends from outside of the Reading Room in to join the fun! Here, Chloe and CoCo have chosen to celebrate Chloe's latest Punch Pass completion by working on literacy skills and bringing shaving cream into the mix. Who knew spelling, writing and reading could be so much fun?!
** Research says that writing actually improves learning, so...why not? :) These wonderful Kinders are cementing letter names and sounds by doing lots of different activities to practice their skills.
We are so excited to get this year started in the reading room! We've been anxiously awaiting time with students and it's finally here! It's going to be a fantastic year!
Here is a fun reading challenge for the month of May! Keep those kids focused and on their game before school gets out.
