Marvelous Thinkers Welcome
Aspen Elementary School 2018/2019
3rd and 4th Grade students are using punch cards to motivate and encourage great reading! Students set goals for each book they are reading (because every book is different in difficulty) and then if they reach that particular goal, they get a punch! Fill up all 10 punches on their card and it's time to reward themselves. Together we made a list of ideas at each grade level of what they might want to do. Some ideas included; a read aloud day, camp out day, pajamas, a new book, going outside and a soft pretzel. Lofty dreams here. It was fun for the kids to have some ownership over their rewards as well as their goals. Here are examples of a 10 and 20 punch card if you'd like to use in your classroom too.
